Buy or Goodbye: Norvina Pro Vol. 4

Let's be honest: the insane number of makeup releases is overwhelming. It can be difficult to know which products are really worth your hard-earned money, or whether hype surrounding the release just makes you want them. That's why I created a new series called:
(super original, right? That was total sarcasm btw.)

This series will examine new makeup releases to determine whether a product is truly a good buy, or whether you can just ignore it and move on with your day. Here are the three main questions I'll ask for each release:

1. Has the same brand already released something similar?
2. Do other brands have something with a similar color story? More or less affordable?
3. Overall, is it worth buying?

We're going to kick this series off with a release from Anastasia Beverly Hills: the Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 4!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 4

  • May 11th release
  • 25 eyeshadows
  • $60 USD
  • extension of original Norvina Palette

Let's examine this palette in multiple different ways. First question: Does ABH already sell a similar palette? Here are three ABH palettes that have some color similarities to the Pro Vol. 4.

Norvina Pro 4 compared to Norvina, Soft Glam, and Amrezy palettes
ABH Norvina has more muted and softer colors that are very similar to the Norvina Pro 4. ABH Soft Glam is more neutral-focused. ABH Amrezy includes colors from the Pro 4 in a more wearable form.

Since the color story of the Pro palettes is notoriously hard to see, I rearranged the palette for easier comparisons. Here are those same palettes compared to the rearranged Norvina Pro Vol. 4 palette.

Second question: ABH released three other Pro Pigment palettes before this 4th release. How similar is the new Pro Vol. 4 palette to the other Norvina Pro Palettes? Here are the original and rearranged versions of all 4 palettes below.

Norvina Pro Palettes 1-4 compared (Original on Left, Rearranged on Right)

Pro Vol. 1 is orange-pink-purple heavy with warm undertones. Pro Vol. 2 is green-teal-blue heavy with neutral undertones. Pro Vol. 3 is orange-brown heavy with warm undertones. Pro Vol. 4 is purple-pink-brown heavy with neutral-cool undertones.

Pro 4 feels different enough from the other Pro palettes to me. You could argue it has shade overlap with the Pro 1, but the Pro 4 is still more wearable in my eyes compared to that palette.

Third and final question: Are there non-ABH palettes with this color story? If so, how are they similar/different? Here is the Pro Vol. 4 palette compared to three similar palettes.

Norvina Pro 4 compared to Eyeshadow Palettes (Colorpop, NARS, and Morphe)

Colourpop It's My Pleasure is more color-focused (i.e. more pinks and purples versus neutrals). NARS Ignited has similar shades but is more muted than the Norvina Pro Vol. 4. Morphe 39S Such a Gem has the most similar color story and is the closest overall dupe for the original palette. It's also more affordable than the Norvina Pro palette ($35 vs $60 for Norvina).

Here are the same palettes compared to the rearranged Norvina Pro palette.

Final Thoughts:

Is this palette worth your purchase? Depends on your eyeshadow collection. If you don't have these shades in your collection already, it could fill a good spot in your makeup repertoire. However, if you already have some of the above-mentioned ABH palettes or dupe palettes, you might not need to buy the Pro Vol. 4 for the purple and pink shades.

Personally, compared to the rest of the Norvina Pro Palettes, this one draws me in the most. It looks like the most wearable and has the most neutrals out of all 4 options, so that may sway your opinion.

DISCLAIMER: Obviously my opinion is entirely based the look and price of the palette, rather than things like texture, shadow consistency, etc. I've never swatched one of the Pro palettes in store, so I definitely can't speak to the texture. Take my visual opinion as you will.

There we have it, my thoughts on the new Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 4! What do you think about this palette? Does it draw you in, or just make you roll your eyes at yet another Norvina/ABH release? Will you be picking it up? Let me know down below!
